We're Building a Rat Rod

This is how we found her setting.

She's a 1948 KB6 International. She was used on a farm for Hauling Haybales.
We bought it and had a vision of a Unique Rat Rod

We stripped her down and removed all the glass.
We chopped the doors first, They welded up nice and you can't even see the cut lines now. (had to put it on to see what she looked like.)

Off with her head, She got a 4" Chop.
Building the frame, Heavy Duty. Geting the Rear Axel set up. Running Old School Mags with Cheater Slicks...

Setting up the 4 link, It will also have a panhard bar, Don't want any side to side sway.

Yep it's got a 9" Ford rearend out of a 76 Ford Lincoln, It Will have a Detroit Locker. (The front spring is just on it to keep the axel from rolling over as we get measurements)

This is her so far, We set part of the bed on there to see where we're at and man she looks good! Anxious as hell to get her goin'. I will post more as we get it. Only get to work on 'er on weekends. So kinda slow going.
((Oh the rod behind this one is the Dunnegan Rat Rod...! See it in my sidebar pic. It is My Brother-in-laws. He got his done first..!))
Will post more later...

Wow is building a Rat Rod slow or what?
It has been MONTHS since we worked on it or even looked at it.
I went up to the shed today, swung the doors open and there she sits- in h
er unfinished state. Begging us to hop to it. I took some new pics but such a small space i could not get good ones. It is Impossible to work on her right now as it rains every other day YES every other day!!

So just thought i'd update a few pics

Here is what we are going to use for a carb set up on the BB 460 - 2 650 Holleys, Weiand Tunnel ram and a way cool air scoop.

This will sit atop a rare set of Super Cobra Jet Heads we bought off ebay a week ago. These bad boys will add More horsepower to our stock 365 horse 460 Ford Big Block.

We also decided to go with the original grille to the truck and this is what it is. It will need to be cut and fit to the Rat Rod

P.S. THE 460 MOTOR IN IT NOW IS JUST THE MOCK UP MOTOR AND IS A RUNNING ENGINE PULLED OUT OF AN OLD LINCOLN FOR A TEMP TRY OUT MOTOR WHILE BUILDING THE "HOT" ONE IT WILL HAVE!

Hang Tough folks, it has been super slow going building her. The Rain ir relentless this year in Missouri and I am not lying when I say it rains EVERY 3-4 days! Our goal of getting her ready for the 09 fall shows and cruise-ins is in reach. We just need a GOOD couple of weekends.

-------------UPDATE-------------

NEW PICS AND AN UPDATE 10/15/10

Well we got those pretty Torque Thrust wheels mounted and on, got the grille cut down and it fits perfect. IT MADE THE ROD. She looked ok with the other grille but this is the one she was born with and man oh man did it set up and look awesome. The bed is coming along nice and he had a couple new ideas for it so no pics with it on yet.
seeing this bad girl setting out in the early morning fog was quite a sight, we let her set out for a week so the cuts could rust. no shiny metal allowed :0

REMEMBER THIS IS JUST THE MOCK UP MOTOR

AND YES THE UGLY NEON GREEN PAINT ON THE GRILLE WILL BE  SANDED OFF ... YUK

UPDATE.....6/23/2012
HELLO RAT LUVRS.... wow where does time go? 4 years and Still do NOT have the Rat on the Road....  My Dream is to have this on the road and at some shows (before the rat rod phase dies off) lol...
